Here you go Judy...a picture of Brent with his hat off!!! Well, we said we were going to go to the church that President Bush goes to in D.C.! Pretty exciting, huh? Actually, we chose to sleep in that morning because Bethany had had a fever and I thought President Bush was still in Scotland. As it turns out he was in town on Sunday, but we did need to sleep in and have a little down time. So, we had to settle for one of those tourist booths where Brent could shake the President's hand. We had a great time in D.C. and saw a lot, especially for being there only 3 days. We toured the capitol, and saw Arlington National Cemetary, all the momuments including the new WWII Memorial, Ford's Theatre and the Peterson House, the National Archives, the Air and Space Museum, Embassy Row, Georgetown, and the White House. I think that's it, but there is probably more. We were at the Capitol KOA which is about an hour outside of D.C. We took the truck in to the Metro Station and then took the Metro in the rest of the way. I would suggest getting an all day pass for the Metro on hot days, so that you can get on and off at different locations in the city. I would also recommend taking the trolley tour when you first get there to get an overview. You can also get off at any of the various stops and get back on again when you want. You can book the tour at Union Station. Also, you need to get in line by 8:00 at the latest if you want tickets to go up the Washington Monument and by 8:30 for tickets to the Capitol. COntact your congressperson way ahead of time if you want to tour the Whitehouse, Capitol or go up into the Statue of Liberty (N.Y.). And there is a good deli by the Naval Monument called Manhattan Deli. Brent and the kids went up the Washington Monument. We could only get passes in pairs so he took Bethany up in the morning while Drew and I went to the Spy Museum and then he took Drew up in the afternoon while Bethany and I went to STARBUCKS! I particulary liked taking the metro and getting a little taste of Washington D.C. culture. Oh...and for anyone who knows her I saw Kelly Eddy outside the Whitehouse! She and Rusty are doing well and have a two year old boy named Henry. She was there on business. I think that is all for Washington D.C. , other than it was hot and sticky!
