Pennsylvania
After D.C. we traveled to Philadelphia via Lancaster. We drove the highway that goes through Bird in Hand and Intercourse and had lunch amongst the "commercialization of the simple life" as Brent put it. We saw a few Amish in their buggies and lots of Amish farms etc. We then stopped at Valley Forge where we went into Washington's Headquarters and talked to a docent for awhile. I spotted a KOA Westchester tour van and we thought we could just follow them into our KOA, which was about an hour away. The driver thought that would be fine and warned us about some last minute lane changes that she would make. You wouldn't know by looking at this very mature woman, but she sure could drive! It was a bit of a challange keeping her pace, but we made it! When we arrived at the campground some of the white knuckled passangers exited the van and came over and greeted us wondering how on earth we had kept up with her. However, there were all kinds of detours on the way to the KOA so we were thankful to have a guide in! Just don't tell Ed about this experience if you talk to him! The KOAs in this part of the country have been real pretty. The next morning we drove the whole rig into Philadelphia... which I don't recommend. We paid $30 for parking..and the guy was giving us a deal! We saw the Liberty Bell, Independance Hall, Carpenter's Hall and had lunch. Then on to New York, via Princton, New Jersey.
