God Blessed Texas...

Yikes! I waited toooo long for these pictures to upload and everyone is waiting for me to turn out the light, so I'll type quick. We ate breakfast with a man at the KOA in New Mexico that has traveled all throughout the United States, by himself, in a van-conversion...in a wheel-chair! He wrote a book about his first big adventure and he gave us a copy since he covered basically the same route. I've been reading it and it is fun reading. We traveled east on the 40 to Santa Rosa. At this point the 40 runs with route 66, so we got to see a bit of the history etc. of that. We highly recommend Joseph's Bar and Grill in Santa Rosa. I had the best fajitas that I have ever had! From there we moved onward down the 60 (I think) to experience a bit of the ba
ckroads of New Mexico. I've include here a picture...so you can get the idea of what the New Mexico drive was like. We all were so looking forward to crossing the Texas border that we didn't even stop at the Billy the Kid burial place in Fort Sumner! There wasn't anything too dramatic about the crossing, but we enjoyed it and played "God Blessed Texas" on the C.D. player as we did! There is an obvious difference though. Grain elevators, wind mills and crops of different kinds became the norm, as opposed to cattle ranch after cattle ranch. Our KOA is in Lubbock and its very pleasant. The kids and Brent went in the indoor swimming pool...and now I really better sign off!!! Happy Trails
